Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 20, 2026
TrialGuard (“TrialGuard”, “we”, “us”) helps you keep track of free trials and subscriptions so you are reminded before they convert to a paid charge. This Privacy Policy explains what data we access, how we use it, and the choices you have. By connecting your Google account or otherwise using TrialGuard, you agree to this policy.
What data we access
When you connect your Google account, you grant TrialGuard read-only access to your Gmail messages using the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly scope. We use this access only to scan your inbox for trial confirmations, receipts, and subscription notices. Specifically, TrialGuard accesses and processes:
- The content and metadata of emails (sender, subject, body, and date) in order to detect trials and subscriptions.
- The email address of the connected Google account.
- OAuth access and refresh tokens issued by Google, so we can re-scan your inbox when you ask.
TrialGuard requests read-only access. We never send, delete, modify, or otherwise alter any of your email.
How we use your data
- To identify free trials and subscriptions, the relevant text of a scanned email is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which classifies the message using the Claude model family. Anthropic processes this content solely to return a classification and does not use it to train its models.
- From detected emails we store only structured details about the trial or subscription — for example the service name, category, start date, trial length, renewal date, price, and a link to cancel.
- We use the renewal dates to send you reminder emails before a trial converts to a paid charge.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties except the service providers described below that are necessary to operate TrialGuard.
Google API Services User Data Policy
TrialGuard’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not transfer or use Google user data for serving advertisements, and we do not allow humans to read your data unless we have your affirmative consent for specific messages, it is necessary for security purposes (such as investigating abuse), to comply with applicable law, or our use is limited to internal operations and the data has been aggregated and anonymized.
Where your data is stored
Trial and subscription records, your connected account email, and OAuth tokens are stored in our database hosted on Neon. The application is hosted on Vercel. Reminder emails are delivered through Resend. Email classification is performed by Anthropic. These providers process your data only to provide their services to TrialGuard.
Data retention and deletion
We retain your trial and subscription records and connected account for as long as your account is connected. You can disconnect your Google account at any time, which revokes our access and removes the stored tokens. To request deletion of all data associated with you, contact us at chevy38760@gmail.com. You may also revoke TrialGuard’s access directly from your Google Account permissions page.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our database and hosting providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to it.
Children’s privacy
TrialGuard is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of TrialGuard after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
